International Stress Awareness Week (3-7 Nov) and Stress Awareness Day (which is held on Wednesday 5 November at the centre of the week) aims to raise the profile of stress awareness and stress prevention, and promote the importance of wellbeing for individuals and organisations.

Everyone experiences stress to some degree. The way we respond to stress, however, makes a big difference to our overall wellbeing.’ (World Health Organisation)

Recognising the signs of stress
Stress isn’t always obvious, often it slowly builds. Here are some common symptoms to watch out for:

Withdrawing from others, procrastinating, or changes in appetite

Stress can be managed with small, consistent actions.
Take breaks: Step away from your desk, stretch, or go for a short walk.

Prioritise sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours to help your body and mind recover.
Practice mindfulness: Even 5 minutes of deep breathing can reset your nervous system.
Set boundaries: Learn to say no and protect your time.
